More About Us

Education

The Dakota Fly Fishers have been instrumental in educating individuals interested in fly fishing. The club provides information and education seminars throughout the year at multiple locations in North Dakota. The annual Fish Camp for youths receives education in how to fish with a fly rod, how to cast and teaches the youths to tie their own flies as well. Both youths & adults alike have learned from the Dakota Fly Fishers at the North Dakota State Fair. Club members taught interested individuals how to cast & fish with many of those being instructed actually catching fish on the spot.

Meeting & Learning From Others

The Dakota Fly Fishers provide those individuals interested in fly fishing an opportunity to meet & talk with others who like or would like to fly fish. During the long winter, club meetings allow members to congregate, learn how to tie flies, and learn what new fly patterns have been working. Seminars are given on subjects such as rod building, net making and how to fish area lakes. During spring, summer & fall club outings are organized, most just allowing club members to meet at some of our more popular area lakes, while other outings are geared toward instruction. These Rendezvous' allow people interested in fly fishing to learn from some of our more experienced club members. Some of the subjects covered include casting, aquatic entomology, float tubing as well as specific information on how to fish the lake at which the Rendezvous is being held.
