Twin Lake Catch & Release Email Campaign

Twin Lake is one of the most outstanding fly fishing destinations in Manitoba. At present, the lake is catch & release but the 2006 fishing proclamation has a proposal in there to change the lake to a one fish limit. The former fisheries biologist for this region, Ken Kansas thinks that the removing of catch & release regulations from this lake will great harm to this fishery and I agree with him. He posted the following on the FLIPPR website:

attention !
i have seen the new angling reg guidebook for 2006
the twin lake proposal is in there...
it states that there is a proposal to open up Twin lake to a one trout harvest no larger than 45 cm...
i think we all realize that any amount of harvest on this particular hybrid salmonid species will have a negative impact on the fishery...natural mortality and proper stocking rates will keep this lake a trophy lake...
if folks want to sound off on this please email the previous email addresses, and please do so individually, because the more the merrier so to speak...if you are not heard, do not complain down the road...

If you have not already written in about Twin Lake, do so now! Do not wait for someone else to do this for you. If you snooze, this lake will be opened up and the only good catch & release lake in Manitoba will be a thing of the past. Individual emails and letters are needed in abundance. So, get others to send emails, as well.

Please email your concerns and questions to:

If you do not know how you want to word your email message, just say something like, “I support the current catch & release regulations that are on Twin Lake and I am against opening the fishery to a one fish limit.” Title the email “Twin Lake Regulations” and send a copy to both the above listed email addresses.
