Stillwater Fishing
The fish you usually find in your stillwater areas, (lakes, ponds and reservoirs), tend to grow larger than their brethren living in moving water. They don't have to fight a current and therefore put their calories into bulk instead of energy. This doesn't mean that they are a pushover when it comes to a fight as many stillwater anglers can attest to.
Fishing stillwaters requires a different mindset from that of fishing moving water. The fish in moving waters typically waits for food to come to him while his stillwater brethren typically will move much more for his meals. This doesn't mean, however, that the stillwater fish is always on the prowl. Oftentimes you will find them laid up in a small area waiting to ambush minnows. Learn to recognize these ambush areas and you'll greatly improve your chance at one of these stillwater hogs.
