| First licensed late in 1977 an was issued the
call WDØBQY. I was with the US Air
force located in Kansas City, MO. at that time. Moved to
Minot, ND with the US Air Force in the early summer of 1978
and upgraded from Novice to General and then applied
later when FCC allowed for a call change for a 1 x 3 call
and I received the call of NØCKB.
My name is Lawrence but go by the nick name of "BILL" taken from my
middle name of William. Around home I was always called
Bill for my fathers name was Lawrence, so it made things
easier when anyone called so Bill has stuck with me.
When it comes to anything legal it's Lawrence.
Was off the air for several years for my wife came
down with lung cancer and of course funds was needed for
everyday type of bills etc. for my wife could no longer
be employed, so I had sell most all of my equipment to
keep us going for awhile.
Then discovered CQ100 by a phone call one day from
a local ham (KBØINN) and he said he is talking to a
friend of mine, and has been looking for me and his call is
WA6YNM. Well the rest of the story is I got the bug
again installed CQ100 on my computer and chatted with my old friend everyday
for awhile (And Still). But now using Echo link. And since my wife is now clean
from cancer. I have been able to obtain a couple of nice HF rigs and 2
meters and some other equipment as you can see in the
picture of MY LITTLE SHACK.
